To grow food and to toil our land, for those lucky enough to own gardens, farms, allotments etc. To grow food is a basic, fundamental part of being a human.
Basically if we did not grow food we would all starve.
Why have we all forgotten this?
I am ashamed to say I myself have forgotten this!
I feel today that I have let my Father down... Not many people nowadays have a vegetable patch. Back when I was a child in the 70's it seemed anyone who had a little bit of land would grow some vegetables and herbs. My own Father did. He grew herbs: Thyme and Parsley. Vegetables like: Runner Beans, Potatoes and Courgettes. He also grew Tomato's, Spring Onions & Salads. Natural, fresh and tasty!
There is nothing juicer than a Tomato grown in your own garden, nothing fresher than an Apple picked from a tree.
To think we are less better off in terms of survival, than the Victorians for instance. They lived without electricity, without supermarkets. They heated their own water and had to grow their own food. (They had to use gas-lamps. They had no TV to brain-wash them, they read books, made their own clothes and used their minds..)
Now I'm sure you will think that, that does not sound like they were better off than us. But I can assure you they were! If all supermarkets in the country closed tomorrow, and there were no shops selling food, what would you do? A Victorian would of just gone out into the garden and picked something to eat. They would know how to grow foods, as this was passed down to them. Of course there were hardships and people struggled, but they knew about the basic needs of life. The Victorians took nothing for granted.
Today there are some children who would not be able to name a fruit or vegetable let alone tell you whether it grew on a tree or underground, some adults too come to think of it!
Why then are the Government waging war on Organic Food?
Killer Cucumbers?? What?
Why have they banned certain plants and herbs that have been around for centuries?
Why are they persisting with the whole GM seeds? Did you know that a GM (Genetically Modified) Seed, will not grow again? Yes, that's right, you plant seed once and it will not yield fertile seeds to grow again! Think about that.
This is what they are doing to farmers across the world!
Farmers do not know they are buying into these crops, that will not grow again. This will damage lives and areas, and if it is left to carry on this way it will eventually lead to mass starvation!
Check out the Senate Bill 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act. This is happening in America already. I'm sure the UK will soon follow.
Can you imagine a world where there are no fertile seeds left! Think about it. Eventually there would be no world as we know it. Ultimately everyone would starve. Oh, apart from the "elite". Those in charge of "Corporation Earth" would have all the good seeds, well of course!
